Finding Flow in the Chaos

Community Building, Capcom Classics, and a Conversation

Hey everyone,

Welcome back to Magic & Melee!

Riding the Community Building Wave

Life has been a whirlwind lately! My days have been overflowing with helping indie games find their communities and voices online. It's been a wild ride, but I'm finding a rhythm in the chaos. There's something truly fulfilling about connecting people and watching communities grow.

This week alone, I've had the chance to work with a diverse range of games, from a battle match-3 to a horror VR experience and even an RPG. It's been incredible to see the passion and creativity of these indie devs, and I'm honored to play a small part in their journey.

And the coolest thing? I've been asked to share my social media and community-building knowledge through coaching sessions! It's amazing to see how my experience can help others find their own path and connect with their audience.

Community Spotlight: A Chat with Parker Wallace on Cheat Codes

Speaking of community building, I recently had a fantastic conversation with Parker Wallace, a community and communications expert, on my podcast, Cheat Codes! We delved into the nitty-gritty of building thriving communities, online and off. If you're interested in learning more about community building, be sure to check it out:

Chaotic Good Corner: Capcom Classics for a Cause

As always, I want to give a shout-out to Humble Bundle for their amazing work in supporting charities while offering incredible deals on games. This week, they've got a Capcom Arcade Classics & Fighters Pack that's sure to bring back some fond memories (and maybe even inspire some new ones). Plus, a portion of your purchase goes to support the Children's Miracle Network Hospitals. Check it out here: Humble Bundle

Game Dev Diary: On Pause (For Now)

In the midst of all this community building, my own game dev journey has been temporarily put on hold. It's been tough to find the time and mental space to dedicate to my own project, but I'm not giving up! I'm hoping to carve out some dedicated time soon to get back into the creative flow.

That's all for this issue of Magic & Melee! Don't forget to follow me on the social media links below for more chaotic good adventures between newsletters. See you in two weeks!
