Humble Bundle and Chaotic Good

This week, I snagged an awesome deal on Humble Bundle (have you heard of them? If not, check out Humble Bundle) and I have to tell you, I am LOVING this game Dordogne.

Seriously, this game is one of the most beautiful games I've ever seen. The graphics look like they were hand-painted, and the story is really drawing me in. It's about childhood memories and family secrets, and I'm so curious to see where it goes. I'm planning to stream it soon, so stay tuned!

Oh, and did I mention that part of my purchase went to support a good cause? What's really cool about Humble Bundle is that you get to choose exactly which charity you want to support. They've got a whole list of awesome organizations doing all sorts of great things in the world, from fighting poverty and protecting the environment to supporting education and the arts. So you can pick one that really speaks to you and know that your purchase is making a difference.

Have you played Dordogne? What are your thoughts?

Game Dev Diary

Remember last time when I mentioned I was dipping my toes into the wild world of game development? Well, I'm still at it, please clap.

I'm starting with Godot, which is this cool open-source software. The awesome thing is there are tons of resources and assets available, but the downside is... there are TONS of resources and assets available! It's like being a kid in a candy store, but the candy store is the size of a galaxy.

Right now, I'm focused on getting my vision down. I've got this concept brewing in my notebook (think Stardew Valley had a baby with a fighting RPG), and I've been devouring hours of tutorials from gamedev.tv. I'm not trying to be the next Muriel Tramis or anything, but I do think learning the ropes will help me better understand the gaming industry from all angles. Plus, let's be real, it's just plain cool to make your own games.

The biggest challenge so far? Finding time to actually sit down and work on it! Between streaming, social media-ing, and everything else, it's tough to resist the siren call of the couch and just be a potato. But hey, Rome wasn’t built in a day - it took more than a day but probably less than 3000 years. So that’s encouraging…

Leveling Up at GDC

I'm heading to GDC (Game Developers Conference) in March! I'm super excited to be attending as a mentor through Women in Games International. I'll be sharing my knowledge and experience with an amazing group of mentees, and I can't wait to connect with other awesome women in the industry. I’ll keep you updated!

Bad Joke of the Week

Why did the scarecrow win an award? Because he was outstanding in his field.

Don't be a stranger! Hit me up on social media, and let's keep the conversation going.
